Maggie Havyatt
How long have you been playing bridge for?
Three years competitively, but fourteen years socially before that.
When you're not playing bridge you are... Reading, writing my family history, painting and cleaning up after my husband.
If you were shipwrecked with 3 bridge players, who would they be? My husband David, his brother Jim and Jim's wife Pip. We have so much fun when we play.
If you could re-name it, what would you call bridge?
I can’t imagine calling it anything else, but maybe six hundred because it is much more interesting than five hundred. Why is David so wonderful?
Because he inspired me to take Bridge lessons in the first place.
What do you love about your bridge club? The friendly people.

How long have you been playing bridge for?
14 years socially first and now 3 years competitively.
When you're not playing bridge you are... Apart from wishing I was playing bridge, reading, gardening, cooking - the usual retired person things. Oh, and trying to complete a PhD.
If you were shipwrecked with 3 bridge players, who would they be? My wife as my partner and my brother and his wife. We just enjoy a game of bridge.
If you could re-name it, what would you call bridge?
I wouldn't Why is Maggie so wonderful?
Because she puts up with my sometimes erratic bidding, and because she puts up with my being very selectively picky about card play (that is when I go on about anything she might have done differently and just try to laugh off my goofs).
What do you love about your bridge club? Firstly being a largish club, a good number of well attended sessions. Secondly having a wide range of abilities and the patience and assistance given by the very very good players to us beginners.
